about San Ysidro
The idea that San Ysidro is a sleepy little town in New Mexico, where the gas station is the only place that has more customers than the feed store, rings true. You can always judge a town by it's feed store and Connie runs the best. On Hwy 550 in northwest NM, You will pass a $ store. They tore down the building I was in to erect a supplier of low cost merchandise. I miss the place. Even the Rattle Snakes.
Decoration
The idea of putting no decorations on a box seemed out of place in today's world of flash. Alas, an uneducated assumption. Reasons were given, that were explained to me, so that I would respect there wishes. A simple sliding or hinged lid that fit snugly were the only other requirements. Although most were simple pencil box designs, my uncontrollable artist would try to sneak in an embellishment. They were accepted by some and not by others. Others requested a simple hummingbird or other design for their piece. Only upon request would I add things, SIMPLE was best. I would try to use the best looking cedar I could find.
